The Situation

A manufacturer of operating room equipment found in Asia its annual sales down by 20% after several years of slid consistent growth. The company sought to figure out why sales can´t increase and what can be done to boost sales in domestic and international markets. Based on a referral from a smaller organization, Kamran was asked to help develop right measures achieve objectives.

The Intervention

7P started with a feasibility study based on different technologies and use cases. Working closely with the product management team, 7P identified after four weeks new opportunities and growing market segments. Kamran developed five use case scenarios with a high potential for scalability. Potential digital technology providers have been identified and after detailed assessment of their capabilities one strategic partner was selected. 7P also developed a new service based business model based on the new digital technology.

The Results

The impact of “digitalization” on company was forcing them to re-think other strategies. New technical possibilities created new opportunities. Business models shifted from a product centered to a value and service centered approach. In the future, patient and workflow data will become valuable and through data capturing and analysis cloud based AI solutions are feasible. Customer feedback was great and company started promoting successfully new technology very recently.

New Surgical Light for Value Segment

The Situation

A manufacturer of surgical lights found that its current portfolio is not competitive both locally and globally. The company knew that a new product development is needed. Because of Kamran’s track record in developing successful surgical lights for premium brands, he was asked to help to define the right product and develop with his approved network a new LED based surgical light for the value segment (mid-range).

The Intervention

Working closely with marketing and R&D teams, 7P identified technical capabilities of company and introduced selected technology providers to company. After two weeks working on the product strategy a new plan was introduced to the management which clearly showed company’s competitive situation and selected areas for growth. Kamran developed a short and long-term plan to close the gap and improved the competitiveness of company through sales and product trainings, new product development and a dedicated Go-to-Market strategy for selected international market.

The Results

After 3 month new distributors have been identified and company started to grow. New product developments were successfully executed and company could grow internationally.
